New Social Histories of the Empire – Actors, Methods, and Archives

This workshop brings together historians specializing in South
Asia, Africa and Ottoman Empire to reflect on the varied experiences
of subalternity and histories from below that have informed their
work and their reading of the archives.
Our speakers are Dr. Riley Linebaugh (Research Associate, Global
History, University of Potsdam); Prof. Dr. Nazan Maksudyan (Researcher,
Centre Marc Bloch); Dr. Romain Tiquet (Senior researcher, CNRS/IMAF,
BARD College); Dr. Soheb Niazi (Gerda Henkel Postdoc Fellow, Friedrich-
Meinecke-Institut, Freie Universit?t Berlin); Dr. Reeju Ray (Max
Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory, Frankfurt); and Dr.
Ilkay Y?lmaz (Friedrich Meinecke Institut, Freie Universit?t Berlin).
