Rehabilitation Pedagogics (Bachelor of Arts, B.A.)

Students should acquire solid, broad and differentiated knowledge of the following key working areas of extracurricular rehabilitation:

• Early childhood education, rehabilitation for children and young people;
• occupational rehabilitation and educational work in inpatient and outpatient medical and psychosocial rehabilitation for those with chronic illnesses and disabilities, in prevention and health promotion, and in geriatric rehabilitation;
• educational work in the traditional fields of inpatient, partially inpatient and outpatient help for the disabled;
• educational work and integration promotion in inter-cultural working areas.

Students gain the fundamental skills to make rehabilitation education decisions in the fields of rehabilitation diagnosis, promotion planning and rehabilitation planning, as well as selected decision-making skills in the field of rehabilitation- pedagogical intervention.

Students know the rehabilitation system, including its legal basis, and are thus able to classify and assess rehabilitation education activities in the interplay between everyday social life, client needs and institutional general conditions.

Students are entrusted with educational science perspectives and theoretical and ethical basic concepts of special education (e.g. self-determination, participation, empowerment, assistance, diversity, disability studies etc.), and can transfer them to practical professional problems.

Students gain a solid research methodology tool set, which they can use to assess and critically evaluate the results of current international rehabilitation science research and their importance for practice-related issues, as well as to undertake smaller practice-related investigations.

- Pedagogy for language and communication impairments
- Pedagogy with learning Impairments
- Pedagogy for psychosocial disorders
- Pedagogy for visual impairments
- Pedagogy for impairments in physical-motor development
- Pedagogy for mental disabilities
- Sign language and Audio Pedagogy.

Besides, courses in General Rehabilitation Pedagogy, Sociology of Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Psychology and Rehabilitation Technology are also offered.

Mandatory interdisciplinary elective area (20 CP)

Free choice of modules of the relevant programs offered by other subjects or central departments of HU.
