Student self-administration

Student self-administration is a central component of the university structure. It strengthens democratic participation and gives students a voice in university policy-making processes at Humboldt-Universit?t.

Independent of the university's academic self-administration, students have their own student self-administration with their own parliament, the RefRat, as a kind of "government", their own budget with an annual budget and decentralised places of student co-determination at almost all locations of the university. Student self-administration is there to represent student interests and concerns. This is where administration, organisation, political action and advice is offered by students for students.

Bodies and committees

The students enrolled at Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin form the student body within the meaning of the Higher Education Act. It manages its own affairs. The most important bodies of the student body are the Students Parliament, the Referent*innenRat (RefRat) and the student representatives.

The General Assembly is the highest body of the student body. It can pass resolutions that must be complied with by all other Student Representation bodies. All students can participate, speak and vote.
