Postdoc phases
Recognised Researcher (R2)
Recognised Reseachers (R2) refers to the early phase of the postdoc. It serves to further expand scientific knowledge. It is also common for this phase to acquire certain skills that are important for a later career. At the Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin, the Humboldt Graduate School offers workshops for researchers in the early stages of their careers.
Established Researcher (R3)
At this stage, as a postdoc, you already have a lot of experience working independently as a researcher. From this point onwards, you can take on a junior research group leadership position, habilitate or aim for a lifetime professorship with tenure track. Please note that appointment to a junior professorship in Berlin is only possible with a permanent tenure-track appointment to a lifetime professorship.
Financing options
The number and dynamics of funding programmes for postdoctoral researchers is almost impossible to keep track of. Numerous databases enable a targeted search for suitable funding opportunities, but it is essential to do your own research. Some programmes from large funding providers are considered "classics".
