With Open Humboldt, we have created a unique framework for turning our university into a contact zone for science, business and society. We want to build bridges and open up discussion spaces for dialogue at eye level. Only in this way will we succeed in asking the right questions and overcoming the multiple crises of our time.
Sharing knowledge with society
In its responsibility for research and education, Humboldt-Universit?t fulfils central tasks within society. This also includes a close exchange between science and society as a bridge between the academic community and the public at local, regional and international level.
We understand the exchange of knowledge with society as an equal exchange. It leaves room for questions, experience and knowledge from society and integrates these impulses into university work. The aim is to learn from the various players in society and to tackle pressing social issues together with civil society, culture and politics.
In doing so, we want to take as many different paths as possible to share expertise, knowledge and resources and to inform and inspire stakeholders beyond campus boundaries - in dialogue at eye level and through active involvement in transdisciplinary research practice. We therefore promote a wide variety of formats to share knowledge and enable participation. In this way, we support social partners and researchers in finding the most suitable methods for them to get involved in a cooperative manner.
Innovation and technology transfer
Making new knowledge accessible to society in order to facilitate solutions to social and economic challenges is the task and goal of innovation and technology transfer at Humboldt-Universit?t.
It is important not to pursue a linear model of transfer, but rather to understand transfer as a reciprocal model from which all sides benefit: Business benefits from applicable solutions developed from research for practical application - university research benefits from the data of its practice partners.
Innovation and technology transfer is the task of Humboldt-Innovation GmbH. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Humboldt-Universit?t, it connects science, business and society with services in the areas of applied research, science-based start-ups, further education and events. In this way, it makes university research, innovations and resources available.
