Course structure and content

In the Physics teacher training programme at Humboldt-Universit?t, you will acquire the ability to think and work independently using scientific methods. You will be introduced to the methods of scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and problem-solving, and become familiar with the fundamental concepts of physics, mathematical methods, the description of physical phenomena, the most important physical theories, and frequently used experimental and data-processing methods.

The programme is broadly based and enables you to apply physical knowledge and methods to other fields of study and in engineering.

By taking modules in the professional sciences, you will be prepared for a teacher training-related Master's programme (M.Ed.). You will acquire fundamental skills to design teaching, learning, and educational processes in physics in a targeted manner and based on scientific findings.

Special features

Physics has a great tradition at Humboldt-Universit?t – Max Planck, Erwin Schr?dinger and Einstein all taught here.

Experimental and theoretical aspects are taught as a unit. The students are included in research at an early stage here.

Campus Adlershof is attractive – here Physics is embedded in a unique environment of other disciplines, young hi-tech companies and non-university research institutes.

At the start of studies, there is the possibility of participating in the preparatory math course and/or the mathematical bridging course of the physics student council initiative.

Career opportunities & prospects

If you wish to enter the teaching profession, you must apply for the Master of Education in your two subjects.

Find out more in the course catalogue or via the database Hochschulkompass nationwide.

To become a teacher, a Master's degree, followed by an induction service as a trainee teacher (Referendariat) and a final examination (state examination) are required after completing the Bachelor's degree.

More information on career prospects and alternatives can be found in the Berufenet database.
