Christian Hartwig (born 1976), mediator BM? licensed by the German Mediation Association (BM) and trainer for Mediation BM?. I was the first Transformative Mediator? in Germany to be certified by the American "Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation" (ISCT). I came into contact with mediation at the end of the 1990s; it had a lasting impact on me. Back then, when I mentioned mediation as my training goal, it was often confused with meditation. I took my first steps at the Faculty of Law, including at the international Summer School on Dispute Resolution.

I was impressed by how naturally mediators from the Anglo-Saxon world supported conflict partners in resolving their concerns constructively and sustainably in joint discussions. Inspired by this, I trained as a mediator in accordance with the standards of the German Mediation Association (BM), attended further training courses and internships in Australia and the USA, went on study trips to Asia, did a lot of voluntary work and never missed an opportunity to internalise the methodology of mediation.

I offer courses on mediation and conflict transformation to students in Berlin to give them an insight into the methodology. This allows participants to experience for themselves what it is like to be at the centre of conflict resolution as a human being.

"Shakespeare said: "All the world's a stage and all ... are the players. They appear and disappear and everyone plays different parts." In line with this, I use the working methods of theatre for my seminars. Theories are tried out in practice and tested for their effectiveness. As a native of Cologne, I first completed my undergraduate studies in law at the University of Kiel, followed by university studies as an actor at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, which I completed in 2002 as a state-certified actor. This was followed by numerous engagements at theatres (including Schauspiel Leipzig, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Schauspiel K?ln and Nationaltheater Mannheim with leading roles in classical plays such as "Kabale und Liebe", "Don Carlos" and "Romeo and Juliet").

In addition to over 15 years of acting experience, I have worked as a trained voice-over artist in dubbing and radio drama productions and was a drama lecturer at the Mannheim Theatre Academy until 2011. An engagement at Stage Entertainment in the musical "Hinterm Horizont" led me to Berlin in the same year, as a result of which I increasingly appeared in numerous film and television productions. At the same time, I began studying law at the Humboldt University of Berlin and graduated in 2022 from the GJPA Berlin with the first state examination in law.

As a speech and acting coach, I develop workshops for body, voice and breathing techniques. In addition, negotiation techniques are essential for a successful start to professional life. And here I also see a need for action in the context of your university education: my offer is aimed at students who want to work on their vocal and physical presence.

During my studies at the Faculty of Law, I experienced in practice that rhetorical and intellectual skills are often put into perspective if the content of what is being said does not reach the audience or if negotiation insecurities dominate. But this can be learnt! Get to know your voice!
