Project description
C05 investigates and models the L1 and L2 acquisition of academic registers in young adults. We analyse developmental factors and situational parameters affecting the accumulation of specialised linguistic repertoires and register flexibility in higher education. Therefore, we will extend the currently constructed longitudinal written corpus (ReFlexAE) to include oral interactional data from L1 and advanced L2 speakers of German. In modelling the development of register flexibility in academic contexts, we also aim at refining the construct of metalinguistic awareness with regard to the dimensions of situational sensitivity, register awareness and metalinguistic knowledge.
