Description

The Graduate School of Ancient Philosophy is a structured doctoral program in ancient philosophy. The program involves research courses, reading groups, tutorial supervision, international workshops, and intensive short courses. The current faculty has particular interests in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, ancient theories of the soul (including moral psychology and action theory), logic, philosophy and history of mathematics, and philosophy and history of science. The program emphasizes Plato and Aristotle, the Old Academy, the Presocratics, Hellenistic philosophy, Middle Platonism, and Neoplatonism. Participants in the Graduate School may pursue independent research projects or join a collaborative project of the Graduate School or the Excellence Cluster "TOPOI".

The Graduate School is an affiliated member of the Cluster of Excellence "TOPOI".
