The De:link//Re:link network examines local perspectives on new geocultural and geopolitical configurations emerging in the wake of major infrastructure projects such as the China-initiated Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). De:link//Re:link's research focuses on recent dynamics (war on Ukraine; Taliban takeover in Afghanistan; expansion of BRICS) to analyze the adaptability of Chinese policies to changing conditions in Asia, Africa, and Europe. This is done from different disciplinary perspectives. The conceptual approaches of New Area Studies and Southern Theory form the unifying theoretical and methodological framework for this. The overarching goal of the transdisciplinary cooperation in the network is to strengthen a multidirectional exchange of knowledge between regional science research institutions and other knowledge actors in Germany and the research regions of the project.
