On the whole, I was very happy with my apprenticeship because it was very varied. In addition to the normal office tasks, I went to the gym once a week and was also able to plan and organise my own events. I also found the team here very nice and they made me feel very welcome.
About the profession
Sports and fitness professionals advise their customers on how to exercise properly, what to bear in mind and why it is so healthy to exercise regularly. They are trainers, organisers and advertising specialists at the same time, provide information about sports and sports technology and develop new sports and wellness concepts. They have knowledge of business administration, finance and accounting, office organisation and special knowledge of the general conditions in the sports and fitness industry. The practical training takes place mainly in the central university sports centre at Humboldt-Universit?t, in a young team that looks after the needs of the university's students and staff.
Prerequisites
At least an intermediate school-leaving certificate or equivalent level of education is required for recruitment. You should be mentally, physically and physically fit, have an interest in sport and physical activities and have good communication skills, the ability to work in a team and a sense of duty. You should also be able to work independently, have a good knowledge of maths, German and English and a good general education.
Training content
The following knowledge and skills are taught:
Practice
- Information, counselling and support for members and customers regarding sports offers and health aspects of exercise and nutrition,
- Developing and preparing concepts for sports and other services,
- Ensuring the organisational flow of daily operations,
- Planning, coordination, organisation and implementation of marketing and health-related events in particular,
- Procurement of sports equipment, goods and services,
- Processing accounting transactions, carrying out calculations, calculating taxes, fees and contributions, managing inventory and profit and loss accounts,
- Assisting with commercial management and control,
- creating, presenting and analysing statistics,
- processing personnel management processes,
- Team and customer-orientated work using your social and communication skills.
Theory
Theoretical training is provided by the relevant vocational school (OSZ Elinor-Ostrom-Schule).
An intermediate examination is held in the middle of the second year of training and the final examination must be taken in good time before the end of the third year of training.

Duration of training: The training programme lasts 3 years.
Payment (according to TVA-L BBiG):
- in the 1st year of training € 1,236.82
- in the 2nd year of training € 1,290.96
- in the 3rd year of training € 1,340.61
Training time: 39 hours 24 minutes per week
Holiday: 30 days per year
