In summer 2008, five students from Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin successfully took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing. However, the award winners are not only characterised by their promising careers in the field of competitive sport, they can also proudly claim to be equally successful students. The Presidential Board of the University took this as an opportunity to honour the five athletes with the Humboldt-Universit?ts-Medaille.
However, this double success is only possible because the Olympic Training Centre Berlin, the General German University Sports Association and the Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin have been working closely together since October 2002. The top student athletes can thus pursue a sporting career and study at the same time.
