Quality Management Unit

The Quality Management Unit supports the university, the faculties and other institutions in their commitment to high quality in teaching and learning. It organises discussions on quality criteria, carries out evaluation procedures in close coordination with the decentralised institutions and publicises the results of these throughout the university.

Tasks

  • Continuous further development and harmonisation of procedures for quality assessment, evaluation and development in the areas of teaching and studies
  • Promotion of quality awareness, quality culture, dialogue, communication as a contribution to the (self-)reflection of the university and its members
  • Initiating and/or coordinating discussions on quality objectives, quality criteria, indicators
  • Ensuring an appropriate scientific standard in the design of evaluations and quality assurance procedures at HU Berlin
  • Provision of information and analyses from quality assurance procedures as well as results from quality reviews to controlling bodies (university management, dean's offices, committees) as a contribution to evidence-based decisions and support for the development of proposals for the elimination of quality deficiencies or for quality assurance and development
  • Measuring the effectiveness of measures and supporting faculties and institutes in the assessment of quality assurance and quality-promoting decentralised measures
  • Implementation of dialogue procedures to support quality-improving developments in the institutes and faculties and to identify central support options
  • Counselling services for HU institutions on the design and implementation of evaluations
