Professor Tilman Brück is a German development economist and peace researcher. He analyses the behaviour and the welfare of poor and vulnerable people in conflict-affected, fragile and humanitarian emergency settings. He also studies how policies and programmes can improve lives and livelihoods in such settings - and how to collect data and conduct research in challenging circumstances. Tilman Brück is Professor of Economic Development and Food Security at Humboldt-University of Berlin, Research Group Leader at Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops, and the Founder and Director of ISDC - International Security and Development Center in Berlin. He is also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Households in Conflict Network, the Principal Investigator of the Life in Kyrgyzstan Study, Central Asia’s longest running panel study, and a co-founder of the Global Young Academy. Tilman Brück obtained a doctorate in economics from the University of Oxford.
