Personal details

Niels Helle-Meyer, born in Cuxhaven in 1971, has been Vice-President for Finance, Human Resources and Operation at Humboldt-Universät zu Berlin since 1 February 2023 and Anti-Semitism Commissioner since 1 August 2025. Within the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), he is the spokesperson for the unit "Sharing Resources".

He studied law at Christian Albrecht University in Kiel, specialising in constitutional and administrative law. He passed his first state law examination in 1997 and his second state law examination in 1999. He initially worked as managing director for the university education of lawyers at the Faculty of Law at the University of Kiel and as a lecturer at the Schleswig-Holstein University of Applied Sciences for candidates for the higher administrative service. Niels Helle-Meyer then moved to the scientific service of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament for the departments of science and media law. From 2006 onwards, he held positions as chancellor at the University of Flensburg, HafenCity University Hamburg, Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen and as chairman of the management board of the Isny Academy of Natural Sciences and Technology. Before taking office as Vice President for Budget, Human Resources and Technology at HU Berlin, Niels Helle-Meyer was Chancellor of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) from 2017 to 2023.
