The UNESCO World Science Day is celebrated on 10 November. It is a reminder of the central importance of science for our society. Science thrives on freedom of thought, the open exchange of opinions and independent research. Universities are places of knowledge, innovation and constructive dissent. However, academic freedom is increasingly coming under pressure. This is why Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin (HU), Freie Universit?t Berlin and the Cluster of Excellence SCRIPTS have asked researchers to shed light on the topic from their expertise. The aim is to make the complexity and significance of academic freedom understandable and tangible against the current backdrop. The experts from Humboldt-Universit?t are also available for interviews.
