More than 2,400 refugee Ukrainian pupils and students registered for the admission tests in June and July in Berlin alone - around 7,800 across Germany. In total, more than 22,000 examinations will be held in 19 European countries and 39 cities. In addition to the examinations for university entrance qualifications, examinations for admission to Master's degree programmes are also possible.
The tests are carried out with technical and organisational support from the "E-Assessment Alliance" of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA). "In the project, the alliance partners have developed common standards for didactic quality, created a regional examination network with central coordination and decentralised organisation and logistics and thus leveraged synergies in the use of technical resources and premises," says Prof. Dr Niels Pinkwart, spokesperson of the BUA's Teaching & Learning Steering Committee and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Education had asked for support with the university entrance tests. The Berlin University Alliance sees its involvement as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine. Participants can use the results to apply to Ukrainian universities offering face-to-face or distance learning programmes. The Ukrainian Centre for Assessment of Education Quality is responsible for the concept and organisation.
