Project description
The goals of GeFam include the substantial improvement of the social and economic research data infrastructure for the study of the living conditions of refugees in Germany. We are pursuing this goal by conducting a representative survey of refugees, especially those who came to Germany with their children or other minor family members in the period from 2013 to January 2016. The sampling of approximately 1,600 families is based on an existing cooperation between SOEP, the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) from the Central Register of Foreigners. The topics of the survey include the living situation of those seeking protection, schooling and vocational training as well as the current occupational situation and social participation.
