Project description

The main goal of this project is to fabricate a surface plasmon polariton laser (spaser). Beyond optical excitation we will strive for the realization of an electrically excited spaser. Concepts of optimized excitation transfer in hybrid metal/organic/inorganic structures will be developed and tested in cooperation with members of HIOS. The investigated structures will consist of Au/Ag particles with a silica shell containing organic molecules as gain medium. The two partners of this project combine optimized on-demand metal/organic synthesis and comprehensive optical investigation on the level of a single spaser particle.
