Project description
Whether abstract or concrete, relationships between humans and animals can always be grasped spatially. The range does reach from living together in the private sphere to encounters on a walk in the forest to the desire for animal blessing services and the mutual burial of humans and animals. Spaces of human-animal-relationships are drawn into society in a variety of ways and do shape it deeply. They are not to be understood as static structures, but as rather dynamically invested and pervaded by different asymmetries of power. In addition to Protestant, Catholic and Islamic theological contributions, interdisciplinary perspectives and orientations sharpen the volume's profile as public theology in diverse controversial social discourses.
