Description
This research intends to study fundamental aspects of solid electrode materials and electrolytes with Na+ as transferring ion. Two research groups with complementary expertise will work together on this aspect. The research group Adelhelm is well experienced in studying inorganic electrode materials and has a strong background in sodium-ion electrochemistry. The research group Bhattacharyya has a very strong background in the synthesis and characterization of polymeric electrolytes. The project consist of 3 working packages (WPs). In WP1, the RG Adelhelm will explore a new concept for alloy-based electrodes. In WP2, the RG Bhattacharyya will explore innovative soft-matter electrolytes. In WP3, both groups will join their expertise to study the properties of the electrodes and electrolyte in the solid-state configuration. The project addresses innovative and fundamental aspects and does not address full cells which why it is outside the scope of more applied research funding schemes.
