Project description

Subproject 4 (SP4) uses validated electroencephalographic (EEG) and electrocardiographic (ECG) measures as indices of emotional reactivity and controlled emotion regulation (ER) capacity to predict nonresponse (NR) to cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy in patients with internalizing disorders. This will be done in close cooperation with other subprojects of DFG Research Unit 5187 "Towards precision psychotherapy for non-respondent patients: From signatures to predictions to clinical utility". Machine learning algorithms, in addition to traditional regression approaches will be adopted to make full use of predictive information from various measurement domains. Beside the clinical significance of NR prediction by ER (in order to consider additional or alternative interventions at the beginning of treatment) this SP will also add to a more comprehensive theoretical understanding of psychotherapeutic change processes as well as to refined mechanistic models of emotion regulation.
