Project description

The project aims to explore epistemic diversity and quality development in global scholarly publishing and to develop approaches for strengthening inclusive peer review practices. As part of a research stay at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, I will collaborate with the research group of Prof. Juan Pablo Alperin (Public Knowledge Project, Scholarly Communications Lab), which is internationally recognized for its work on open science, publishing equity, and bibliodiversity. Building on the VW-funded project “DISAPEER – The reconfiguration of peers in editorial review” the study investigates concepts and practices of epistemic diversity in peer review through comparative analysis. It focuses on the interplay between global inequalities, institutional contexts, and strategies of diversification. The stay will enable intensive methodological and theoretical exchange. The insights gained will contribute directly to BUA’s quality assurance initiatives, particularly in the area of peer review.
