Description

Aim of the network project was the development of innovative organization and communication structures to transfer scientific results into practice. Those new structures were to be developed and applied within the transfer of a new product for green tram tracks – a mobile textile mat for tram tracks. They were tested regarding their effectiveness. The central issue comprised the integration of many enterprises from different branches to implement the complex product vegetation system for tram track greening based on a mobile textile mat. Tasks involved were the coordination/adaption of a multitude of aspects regarding textile mat, vegetation, track building as well as administration/planning. So far the producers of components for the green track system (e. g. textile mat, track filling, rubber bodies), the landscapers and the public transport company were lacking direct connections. Therefore twelve project partners joined a network to realise a successful transfer. This way on the one hand the enterprises entered new markets; on the other hand they got a broad overview regarding the correlations during implementation. The qualification of the transfer partners and the prearrangements for the textile vegetation mat for market entry were done by intense networking, the conjoint installation of two test sites, the qualification of a system provider and accompanying measures as for example broad public relations. The conjoint installation of two test sites in tram tracks in Berlin and Erfurt served to assess and optimise the product and to validate its sustainability. The concurrence of those organisation and communication methods enabled the optimisation of the vegetation system with textile mat and effective prearrangements for commercialisation. Also questions of shortening the preplanting vegetation on the tracks with different Sedum-species were investigated. The green area ratio was documented (including digital).
This way the network project achieved a contribution which matches the founding policies of the Innovations-wettbewerb ‘Wirtschaft trifft Wissenschaft’ (economy meets science). Founded were new approaches for an improved transfer of scientific and technical innovations into economic applications. At the same time the goal was achieved to further integrate the potential of research institutes into innovation processes within the economic system and to strengthen the position of the universities of the New Federal States of Germany as ‘regional anchor’ in innovation processes.
