Project description
This project investigates the earliest forms of episodic memory formation in infants and toddlers. In particular, it focuses on the initial acquisition (encoding) of the components of episodic knowledge (the what, when, and where of an event), the transfer of this information into long-term memory (consolidation), and the influence of sleep and the memory-forming processes of sleep on the consolidation of the individual components of episodic knowledge. Methodologically, the questions are investigated using a combination of event-related potential (ERP) analysis and sleep EEG.
