Project description

The project reconstructs the process of introducing sociology inthe the school curriculum in major Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Mexico) since the 1950s. It maps the presence of sociology in secondary education, it analyses the establishment of sociology training courses and examines the producion of sociology textbooks. It takes an eminently transnational perspective regarding the circulation of sociological knowledge and the politics of modernisation and development in the region.
