Dag Hamarskj?ld Visiting Professorship

The Swedish government established a visiting professorship at the Department for Northern European Studies in October 1998. The chair was first held by prof. Torsten Nybom (history, 1998-2000) and prof. Birgitta Holm (literature, 2000-2001), both from University of Uppsala. In 2002 the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation took on the task of funding the chair the name of which was changed into Dag Hamarskj?ld Professorship. From 2002 to 2005 the professorship was held by prof. Ella Johansson (ethnology) from Lund, and since October 2005 by prof. Sten Berglund (political science) from the University of ?rebro.
