Description

In the wave of the new generation of industrial revolution, artificial intelligence has gradually penetrated into all areas of society, causing profound changes in the world economic structure, social life forms and human working methods. Both China and Germany have promoted artificial intelligence (AI) and education as national strategies, issued relevant policies and plans, and strived to seize the high ground of global science and technology. In July 2017, the China’s State Council issued the “New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan”, which specifically mentioned “to accelerate the promotion of new education systems, intelligent campus construction and the development of smart educational assistants”. The German Government, including the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, regularly funds AI research, also applied to education. Hence, Artificial Intelligence Technology has both, strong practical needs and some foresightedness in promoting fair education in both countries, improving the quality of education, and developing individualized students. Based on the differences, complementaries, and common development aspirations of China and Germany in the areas of smart education environment, educational data standards, education and teaching theory and technology, technology and education integration mechanism, the symposium aims to discuss topics related to educational data modelling, interactive AI based educational technologies, and success factors for next-generation learning environments.
