Development of an Alternative Regulation of Plant Growth by Means of Controlled Vibrations Technology as a Substitution of the Chemical Inhibitors.
Facts
Federal Office for Agriculture and Food
Description
The aim of the project is to research new, innovative and alternative methods to regulate the growth of ornamental plants, resulting in a reduction in internodal growth through defined mechanical stimulation (vibrations). In so doing, the use of synthetic growth regulators can potentially be avoided. This will be investigated through trials at the Ornamental Plant Division of the Agricultural & Horticultural Faculty, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, and at the premises of co-operating growers. The results can be tested in close co-operation with practising growers as well as planning the technical implementation at grower level. There will be a direct knowledge transfer between science and industry and the results will also be presented at industry trade shows.
