Anna Schr?der-Sura (P?dagogische 金贝棋牌 St. Gallen) and Prof. Dr Michel Candelier (University of Le Mans) led a workshop at Humboldt-Universit?t on 24 and 25 June, where they presented the central publication for multilingual education in Europe: the Framework of Reference for Pluralistic Approaches to Languages and Cultures (FREPA). Their target audience were foreign language teachers engaging with newly established standards for fostering plurilingual competence. A total of 30 participants, most of whom work in Berlin secondary schools, gained first-hand insights into FREPA’s tools.
Two aspects were particularly novel: the consistent integration of learners’ entire language repertoires – especially migration languages – into the use of pluralistic approaches, and the use of the new FREPA database, which provides a wide range of teaching materials for this purpose.
For most participants, the workshop marked their first encounter with the European Centre for Modern Languages as an international institution. It was regarded as a valuable contribution to language-aware teaching, the development of school-specific subject curricula, and the strengthening of networks between Berlin schools and Humboldt-Universit?t.
