Humboldt Speech on Europe by the President of the European Parliament

On 23 October, the Walter Hallstein Institute welcomed the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. In the Festsaal, Ms Metsola presented her vision of a strong Europe with a promising future on the world stage and described the urgency of reorienting the EU under the title "Relaunch, Reform, Reimagine Europe". In particular, she emphasised the task of enlarging the European Union, also against the backdrop of current wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Following her speech, Ms Metsola answered critical questions on the points raised, allowing insights into her personal and family experiences, for example on Malta's accession to the EU in 2003.
